Daniel Connell

Daniel Connell is an Adelaide based artist who has produced the most extraordinary large, billboard-sized portraits of Sikh students and taxi drivers in Adelaide.

When I visited the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra in May 2012, I spoke to one of the curators, Dr Sara Engledow, about the need for the Gallery to have a look at this extraordinary artist’s work, and do something to promote and display his work. Sara Engledow is the sister of one of my old classmates, John Engledow.


You can see from the above picture how big the portraits are.

These large portraits, like the one above, are made up from a series of sheets paper put together, making a sort of tiled look.
