Fred Williams

When I went to Canberra for my high school reunion in October 2011, I was lucky enough to go to the Fred Williams Retrospective at the National Gallery of Australia.

It was a tremendously exciting and exhilarating exhibition. Some of the painting were what I thought of as “typical Fred Williams” – like the ones shown below: semi-abstract blobs on the landscape. But what impressed me was a diversity of styles he used over the years.

The exhibition is now showing a the National Gallery of Victoria.
