I first met Tess Lawrence when I started to help with the training of her two boxer dogs, Bunyip and Gumnut.
We became friends and I admire her for her contribution to independent journalism is Australia. She fiercely pursues causes which she takes up with a passion for justice and compassion for people who are suffering.
Her Headlines contains some remarkable in-depth interviews with famous and notorious people. She copped a lot of flack for interviewing Julian Knight, the Hoddle St Massacre murderer. Some people said he shouldn’t be given a forum to bignote himself. I don’t think the interview does that. I think his language is very revealing. It shows what a manipulative, ingratiating and self-absorbed little weasel he is. Well done, Tess. I’m sure you weren’t taken in. I certainly wasn’t.
Now Tess is in trouble. A long and protracted legal dispute with the National Australia Bank has taken a huge toll financially and emotionally. Tess has had the courage to go public with her story.
